Discover the British Virgin Islands – A Tropical Caribbean Paradise
Explore the Natural Beauty of the British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) are a collection of over 60 tropical islands in the heart of the Caribbean. Just a short 45-minute flight west of Antigua, the islands sit between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Once volcanic, their rugged landscapes now offer lush hills, scenic beaches, and panoramic views.
This peaceful destination is often described as the “original Caribbean.” It's unspoiled, easy-going, and developed just enough to offer a truly relaxing escape. The islands are perfect for couples, families, and sailing enthusiasts alike.
Island Hopping in the BVI
With islands so close together, exploring the BVI by boat or ferry is a must. The main islands include Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke. Smaller islets, many uninhabited, offer perfect stops for snorkeling, beach picnics, or quiet walks.
Things to Do in the British Virgin Islands
There’s no shortage of activities. Dive into turquoise waters, explore hidden coves, or take in stunning views from hillside trails. Visit The Baths on Virgin Gorda—giant granite boulders forming natural pools and tunnels. Relax at beach bars or enjoy fine Caribbean cuisine. The local BV Islanders are known for their warm and welcoming spirit.
Water sports, world-class sailing, and unforgettable diving are all part of the experience. Nature lovers will enjoy rich marine life and colourful tropical plants.
How to Get to the British Virgin Islands
Most visitors arrive via connections from other Caribbean islands. The main airport is Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Beef Island, just off Tortola.
From the UK and Europe, fly with British Airways or Virgin Atlantic to Antigua (approx. 8 hours). From there, catch a short connecting flight with VI Airlink, InterCaribbean, or Liat. You can also choose a private charter or continue by boat to other islands.
